Reliant Finishing Systems Fills Order for Large Industrial Oven in 24 Hours to Help Advanced Quality Coatings Recover from Fire

Reliant Finishing Systems provided a large gas-fueled powder coating oven to Advanced Quality Coatings only one day after the company ordered the equipment. The oven was delivered, installed and operational in less than a week. Rapid delivery limited the problems associated with unscheduled downtime at Advanced Quality Coatings due to fire damage to an oven from another manufacturer.

In response to an emergency request to replace an oven from another manufacturer that was damaged by fire, Reliant Finishing Systems provided a gas-fueled powder coating oven to Advanced Quality Coatings one day after the company ordered the equipment. The 8’ x 8’ x 25’ oven was delivered, installed and operational in less than a week, limiting the problems associated with unscheduled downtime. A cooperative effort between the manufacturer, the client and contractors fast-tracked what could have been a two month process into a few very busy days.

The new oven from Reliant was delivered very quickly, and is more than twice as efficient as our last batch oven.

Advanced Quality Coatings, located in Amherst, VA, is an industry leader in the field of aftermarket coatings. Advanced Quality Coatings (AQC) specializes in powder and ceramic coating processes. The company recently expanded their capabilities to become a full-service custom coating facility. AQC’s President, Mr. Dan Summers, explained, “AQC creates satisfied clients by combining excellent service with exceptional quality. AQC provides professional services and quality coatings for industrial, commercial, and personal jobs. We have gained a solid reputation and are taking our services to the next level. Shooting sports and coatings have been a passion for over twenty five years. We offer OEM coatings to some of the highest end manufacturers in the firearms, construction, and fabrication industries, and are proud to also serve the general public.”

AQC recently suffered fire damage to their gas-fueled powder curing oven. To keep production on track, the company needed to replace the oven as quickly as possible. They chose to work with Reliant Finishing Systems because they could not afford to wait the four to six weeks that most capital equipment providers offer as a lead time.

Although the damaged oven wasn’t manufactured by Reliant, their employees took a personal interest in the situation. Mr. Franklin Slaton, a Powder Coating Systems Specialist for Reliant Finishing Systems, worked with AQC to provide a solution. He commented, “When I first interacted with Dan, he made it clear that his company was in a bad situation due to the fire. I contacted the Reliant factory and explained the importance of shipping promptly. They suggested a solution that would enable us to ship a large gas-powered oven with less than a day’s notice. I was really happy to have some good news to give to the folks at AQC since their livelihood was in danger.”

The oven fire at AQC could have had catastrophic results. “The new oven from Reliant was delivered very quickly, and is more than twice as efficient as our last batch oven. In our very stressful situation on locating an oven, Reliant went out of their way to deliver a great oven in nearly 24 hours. Being as desperate as we were, we called over eight manufacturers and fifty listings on used ovens, none of which could have been delivered in less than a week. Our company is very thankful and will be a loyal customer for years to come,” said Mr. Summers.

“I was amazed at how quickly AQC was able to react,” said Mr. Michael Schuerer, President of Reliant Finishing Systems. “It is rare that a client can get all of the contractors needed for a project like this lined up and working together on such short notice. Clearly AQC was prepared to do whatever it took to get their equipment up and running as quickly as possible. Fortunately, one of our factory-authorized technicians, Mr. Allan Williams of Williams Contracting in Mechanicsburg, PA, was able to adjust his schedule to arrive on site and get the oven calibrated and operational right away. I’m glad we were able to get the oven for AQC shipped before the weekend. I remember the order coming in on a Thursday, and the oven was completed, crated and being loaded onto a truck by Friday for delivery on Saturday,” he said.

Advanced Quality Coatings is operational at full capacity and welcomes enquiries via phone or email regarding their services. They currently offer a variety of powder and ceramic finishes, including Cerakote coatings. Reliant Finishing Systems continues to enjoy brisk sales of their gas and electric powder coating equipment and is actively seeking new distribution partners.

Reliant Finishing Systems Formalizes Distribution Agreement with Systems Specialist Franklin Slaton

Reliant Finishing Systems’ new line of powder coating booths, ovens and related equipment will be sold and supported by powder coating systems specialist, Franklin Slaton. Mr. Slaton, based in Birmingham, Alabama, will work with end-customers from across the United States and Canada.

Reliant Finishing Systems announced today that they have formalized a distributorship agreement with powder coating systems specialist, Franklin Slaton. Mr. Slaton will promote and support Reliant’s popular line of powder coating booths and powder curing ovens. The agreement will establish Mr. Slaton as a new point of contact for industrial, aerospace and automotive clients from the U.S. and Canada.

Mr. Michael Schuerer, President of Reliant Finishing Systems, is confident that the new relationship will increase sales and assure end-users of excellent support after the sale. “When Mr. Slaton and I first discussed his interest in Reliant, it was clear that he had the right mix of technical know-how and salesmanship to be effective for us. He also demonstrated a great deal of innovative thinking and an extraordinarily competitive nature. He compiled an extensive amount of research on our equipment–as well as products from our major competitors–before our first in-depth meeting. Based on this information, he was able to effectively communicate the benefits of our equipment from day one. I believe Franklin will be a great asset for Reliant and for our clients, and I’m glad we’ve locked down a distribution agreement with him,” he said.

Mr. Slaton is convinced that our combination of competitive pricing and prompt, friendly support after the sale truly sets Reliant apart in the powder coating equipment market.

Mr. John Thomason, Reliant’s Executive Vice President, added, “We recognize that because of Reliant’s rapid growth, we need to expand our network of distribution partners. By working with Mr. Slaton, we will instantly increase our level of customer support. He has shown that he understands what makes our company successful. Franklin is convinced that our combination of competitive pricing and prompt, friendly support after the sale truly sets Reliant apart in the powder coating equipment market.”

Reliant will work with Mr. Slaton to support new and existing clients in the industrial, aviation, racing and automotive/motorcycle parts markets. The new products that will be sold and supported by Mr. Slaton have many advantages over equipment currently used within the industry. Versions of the Reliant products that meet California’s emission guidelines are already in production. Adding to the appeal of these products is the fact that the heat systems mount at floor level in a vertical configuration, reducing maintenance costs compared to conventional roof-mount systems.

SprayBoothSupplies.com (http://www.sprayboothsupplies.com) was also recently selected by Reliant Finishing Systems as a distribution partner. SprayBoothSupplies.com’s President, Mr. Manolo Diaz-Marta, is pleased about joining forces with Mr. Slaton. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Franklin on and off for several months. He’s pragmatic and really understands how to help clients avoid the stumbling blocks that many first-time coaters face,” he said.

Mr. Slaton is enthusiastic about his new role. “I’m thrilled to be working with Reliant. I’ve known several of their key personnel for many years and I’ve always had a respect for their products and their approach to customer support. It amazes me how quickly they can respond to the needs of their clients. There are few companies in any industry that are so focused on providing prompt, effective, fairly-priced solutions for their customers. As a Reliant distributor, I look forward to helping newcomers to powder coating, as well as experienced coaters who are ready to improve their productivity, lower their costs or increase their throughput,” he said.

Over 150 Reliant dry-off and powder curing oven models and over 200 Reliant powder coating spray booth models are now available from Mr. Slaton. He will also offer site surveys, system evaluations, and the sales and support of blast rooms, wash booths, pre-treatment stations, and related equipment from Reliant, as well as Wagner powder guns, Electro-Steam products, and Empire blasting equipment.

SprayBoothSupplies.com Chosen as Online Outlet for Reliant Finishing Systems

Reliant Finishing Systems’ powder coating booths and ovens will be sold online by fast-growing web outlet SprayBoothSupplies.com. The partnership is unique because it marks the first time a premium brand powder coating equipment manufacturer has offered their products to end-users via a third-party e-commerce site.

Reliant Finishing Systems announced today that they have entered into an agreement that will position SprayBoothSupplies.comas the premiere online outlet for Reliant’s popular powder coating booths and powder curing ovens. The arrangement signals a shift in the way Reliant products have been marketed to end-users and may significantly impact the “batch” coating equipment market.

Reliant confirmed that their recent collaborative efforts with leading paint booth and heat system manufacturer, NorAM Inc., were related to the decision to work with industry newcomer, SprayBoothSupplies.com. As part of the plan, SprayBoothSupplies.comwill begin shipping filters and maintenance parts for equipment from both Reliant and NorAM.

SprayBoothSupplies.comand Reliant will target the industrial and automotive markets in a joint effort. They will seek end-users who want to maximize their fuel savings without reducing productivity. “We have been impressed with the enthusiasm and confidence that Spray Booth Supplies has shown when talking with potential customers about our equipment. We feel certain they will be an effective national-level distribution partner,” said Mr. John Thomason, Reliant’s Executive Vice President.

By 2009 we had hundreds of projects under our belt, resulting in millions of dollars in revenue, but Reliant Finishing Systems was practically unknown because our equipment was almost always relabeled

The new products that will be sold by SprayBoothSupplies.comhave many advantages over systems currently used within the industry. Versions that meet California’s emission guidelines are already in production. Adding to the appeal of these products is the fact that the heat systems mount at floor level in a vertical configuration, reducing maintenance costs.

Mr. Michael Schuerer, President of Reliant Finishing Systems, feels that the timing of Reliant’s decision to work with SprayBoothSupplies.comis perfect. “The large volume of OEM and private label sales we enjoyed during 2006 and 2007 certainly spurred Reliant’s growth. We knew that we needed to partner with a company that could help us propel our own brand forward, but it was hard to find a good fit. By 2009 we had hundreds of projects under our belt, resulting in millions of dollars in revenue, but Reliant Finishing Systems was practically unknown because our equipment was almost always relabeled. When looking for companies to sell our equipment under the Reliant brand, we had a tough time finding partners that were committed to treating smaller customers and new powder coating businesses with the same respect as larger industrial clients. It became clear that there was a shortage of online sales outlets that did business in a way that made us comfortable. SprayBoothSupplies.comwas an exception. We felt at ease with SprayBoothSupplies right from our first meeting. They were obviously ready to treat our customers in a friendly, ethical and professional manner. The decision to work with them was easy. The fact that they have an unmatched degree of web savvy didn’t hurt,” he said.

SprayBoothSupplies.comcaught the attention of competitors, equipment manufacturers and industry insiders with their rapid growth in 2009. Like Reliant, they were looking for the right company to partner with long-term. Mr. Schuerer commented, “They came out of nowhere. The amount of web presence they have secured in such a short time is remarkable. Nobody in our industry has even come close to matching their pace online.”

SprayBoothSupplies.com’s President, Mr. Manolo Diaz-Marta, agrees that the relationship will help reshape the market. “There’s plenty of cheap powder coating equipment on the Internet right now, but most of it offers lackluster performance. Until now, online shoppers looking for brand name equipment have typically had to deal with regional distributors or settle for less impressive products from economy-oriented manufacturers. Reliant’s equipment has always offered premium performance, but for many customers there wasn’t an easy way to get access to Reliant’s products. By working directly with Reliant Finishing Systems, we can provide both superior performance and low prices. With the recent upgrades to their oven line, I think our customers will be getting even more bang for their buck,” he said.

Mr. Chris Davis, President of NorAM Inc., another manufacturing company that builds finishing equipment, thinks the new partnership will be a good fit for Reliant. “The decision makers at Reliant are obviously trying to stir up the market. They have a lot of confidence in their new products. Offering Reliant-branded equipment through SprayBoothSupplies.comwill probably give both companies a big sales boost.”

Beginning in April 2010, over 150 Reliant powder coating oven models and over 200 Reliant powder spray booth models will be available at the SprayBoothSupplies.com website.

Reliant Partners with NorAM to Offer Fuel-Saving Powder Coating Equipment

Reliant Partners with NorAM to Offer Fuel-Saving Powder Coating Equipment

Reliant Finishing Systems and NorAM Inc. announced that they have reached an agreement to share technology related to the high-performance heat units unique to their competing powder coating and painting equipment brands. Reliant has already made changes to their industrial ovens in order to fully exploit the extreme fuel savings of the NorAM-designed heat systems and will begin selling the upgraded models later this month.

Reliant Finishing Systems is upgrading their popular industrial oven line with an ultra fuel-efficient heat system developed with the help of their competitor, NorAM Inc. The two companies have partnered on the project to jointly promote their unique energy-saving designs and continue their mutual growth as U.S. manufacturers of capital equipment for the finishing industry. The new heat systems are exclusive to the Reliant and NorAM brands.

Reliant’s rapid growth is linked to the market’s demand for greater fuel efficiency. By sharing their heat system technology, NorAM has helped us produce impressive new products. Reliant’s powder coating ovens offer energy savings that can’t be ignored.

Both companies anticipate increased brand awareness within the finishing community. As Reliant’s upgraded ovens become operational, end-users should have proof of the benefits of the proprietary heat systems. Reliant and NorAM both expect to gain new clients in the industrial, aerospace and automotive markets as a result of their joint efforts. Upcoming ad campaigns will target end-users who want to maximize their fuel savings without reducing productivity. “In-house testing indicates that the new ovens typically use less than half the fuel of similar products already on the market,” said Mr. John Thomason, Reliant’s Production Manager.

Mr. Chris Davis, President of NorAM Inc., sees increased opportunities for both companies in the future. “Brisk sales in the first quarter of 2010 helped reconfirm that there is a strong demand for equipment that uses less energy to get the job done. NorAM and Reliant have both enjoyed healthy sales numbers, even though we were sometimes vying for the same customers,” he said. “The new Reliant oven’s performance is incredible. By cooperating instead of competing, our companies got the chance to pool resources and quickly make a big leap forward in terms of heat system efficiency.” Both companies have already seen strong interest in the upgraded ovens from industry insiders and potential OEM/PBL clients. Mr. Davis added, “Everyone involved, especially the end-users, will benefit from this collaboration.”

The heat system resulting from the NorAM/Reliant collaboration has many advantages over systems typically used within the industry. It features a forced-induction “Jet Fire” burner that will be offered only by Reliant and NorAM. The burner is mated to a large, tunnel-shaped heat unit that includes an integrated support frame, oversized combustion chamber, stainless steel liner, and a significantly more robust fan drive than previous models. Also, key components are accessible from the exterior of the heat unit, reducing maintenance costs.

The combination of premium components and state-of-the-art burner technology has always been successful for NorAM. Mr. Harold Davis, NorAM’s founder, recalled the attention given to their first direct-fired heat system that relied on forced induction of cool air. “In late 2000 we were at the largest trade show of the year. We were ushering people through our booth and the crowd started getting testy because engineers from other companies were elbowing past the attendees to take pictures of the gas train and controls we were using. In the 20-plus years I’ve been going to these shows, I’ve never seen anything like that happen before or since,” he said. The NorAM systems have gone through several improvements over the past ten years. The newest versions include technology that makes them more reliable as well as more fuel efficient. “The systems we have just developed are perfect for integration with both NorAM’s and Reliant’s finishing equipment. The heat unit variants are all built for specific applications. They can be used on industrial ovens, heated industrial paint booths, automotive paint booths, powder coating systems, and a variety of other curing enclosures. Plus they are all ETL listed and can be mated to our ETL listed controls,” he added.

Reliant’s President, Mr. Michael Schuerer, agrees that the new technology is a potential game-changer. “Reliant’s rapid growth is linked to the market’s demand for greater fuel efficiency. By sharing their heat system technology, NorAM has helped us produce impressive new products. Reliant’s powder coating ovens offer energy savings that can’t be ignored. I am very pleased to have NorAM as a partner for future ventures instead of as a rival. Our companies both value intelligent design and premium performance instead of price point, so we have seen other companies respond with lower cost look-alike equipment that has roughly the same appearance as our products, but with significantly inferior performance. I think that after comparing the similar paths our companies have traveled, us working together doesn’t seem surprising at all. In the future, Reliant will focus on industrial ovens, powder coating equipment and related products. NorAM will focus on spray booths for use with conventional and waterborne paints, retrofit heat systems for existing paint booths, and related prep and finishing equipment,” he said.

Beginning in April 2010, over 150 Reliant oven models, primarily those designed for curing previously-applied powder coating media, will be available with the upgraded heat systems.
